Udyam Registration

Udyam Registration is a formal recognition granted by the Government of India to enterprises classified under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) category. Once registered, the business is issued a permanent Udyam Registration Number (URN) along with an e-certificate, which serves as valid proof of its MSME status.

The registration process is entirely online, linked with Aadhaar, and based on self-declaration. It does not require the submission of physical documents, ensuring a simple, seamless, and transparent experience for entrepreneurs.

In today’s dynamic and competitive business landscape, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) must actively utilise government-backed initiatives that offer financial assistance, statutory advantages, and formal business recognition. Udyam Registration, previously known as Udyog Aadhaar, is a key initiative introduced by the Government of India to promote, support, and formalise MSMEs nationwide.

Launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises on 1st July 2020, Udyam Registration replaced the earlier UAM system with a completely digital, paperless, and self-declaration-based process. Since its introduction, the Government has continuously strengthened MSME support through enhanced credit facilities, technology upgradation schemes, and revised investment and turnover classification limits, including updates announced under the Union Budget 2025.
